Cardinal Gibbons Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

Seven Cardinal Gibbons high school athletes committed to playing intercollegiate athletics during a Fall Signing Period ceremony held at the school on Wednesday, November 14th.

Six students signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) on the first day of the NCAA Fall Signing Period.  An NLI is a binding contract between an athlete and a college, where the student agrees to enroll at a specific school and the school agrees to provide athletic-based financial aid. Haleigh Nelson accepted a scholarship to play volleyball at Wisconsin.  Robbie Thorburn accepted a baseball scholarship to UNC-Wilminton.  Evan Nations and Tyler Pickard will continue their baseball careers as teammates in college, both accepting scholarship offers to Charleston Southern.  Colin McKendry accepted a scholarship to play lacrosse at Providence College.  Bailey Maloney accepted a swimming scholarship to East Carolina. Additionally, Kai Wombacher, committed to swim at Brown University.  As a member of the Ivy League, Brown is prohibited from granting athletic aid, so a National Letter of Intent is not required.

Additional signing ceremonies will be held at Cardinal Gibbons in February and April to coincide with future NCAA signing periods for football, field hockey, soccer, track and field, and cross country.
