Most Gibbons Students have a period designated on their schedules as "Flex Period." Flex periods are intended to give our students options for quiet study, collaborative study or social time on campus. Students will have access to the Library, Learning Commons, Quad, Lobby and Cafe during Flex periods.

All students who have Flex in Periods 1, 4, 5, or 8
While we encourage students to come to campus before school and stay on campus for the whole day, we will allow students, with parent permission, to arrive late in periods 1 and 5 and leave campus, in periods 4 and 8. Parents must complete the Flex Period Permission Form for each child enrolled who is given permission to NOT be on campus during their Flex in Periods 1, 4, 5, or 8. Students are expected to arrive in time for their next class or Advisory. Excessive tardies to their scheduled classes will result in the school revoking the privilege to leave campus during the flex period.

Juniors and Seniors who have Flex in Periods 2, 3, 6, or 7
With parent permission, juniors and seniors are able to leave campus during their Flex period and return for their remaining classes. These students must have a parent complete the Flex Period Permission form. Students are expected to return to campus on time for their classes. A tardy will be issued when a student arrives late. Excessive tardies to their scheduled classes will result in the school revoking the privilege to leave campus during the flex period and/or lunch period.

Freshmen and Sophomores who have Flex in Periods: 2, 3, 6 or 7
All students in Grades 9 and 10 are required to stay on campus during flex in periods 2, 3, 6, or 7 just like any other class. A parent is required to excuse a student from school during this time by contacting the attendance office just like he or she would at any other time of the day.
