Digital Media Educator
DIGITAL MEDIA EDUCATOR
Cardinal Gibbons High School is seeking applicants for a full-time Digital Media teaching position.
This position is responsible for the development, growth, and management of a robust high school Digital Media program
The Digital Media educator:
- Delivers industry-based instruction that develops student competencies utilizing the latest software applications and industry-standard equipment to create dynamic visual presentations.
- Will have industry experience or demonstrable success in building a successful Digital Media program at the secondary or post-secondary level. Upon completion of the Digital Media program, students may be eligible to obtain certifications and internships in many of the areas of Digital Media.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s in Media/Film, Communications, or related Media field
- Preferred 3-5 years of industry experience
- Adobe Creative Suite Certification (or obtained within 12 months from hire date
- Knowledge of Adobe Certification credentials
- Software knowledge: iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, and Photoshop
- Experience with web-based content management systems, video optimization and archival techniques.
- Proficient with PC platforms
- Proven Digital Media program-building experience working with secondary\ post-secondary students
- Strong interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to work cooperatively and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, parents, and families
DUTIES:
- Plan and execute lessons that advance students' mixed-media knowledge and skill through multiple forms of instruction, primarily concerning scripting, video, and audio recording (both in-person and virtually), composition, editing, lighting, directing, and computer graphics and content creation\management
- Develops clear and concise instructional lesson plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of preparation, instruction, and on-air time.
- Hardware\equipment management, including teaching students best practices for equipment usage, inventory, and storage
- Active collaboration with and support of multiple inter-school programs, including Academics, Athletics, Fine Arts, and Co-Curricular
- Develop and manage school media guidelines and processes in concert with admin and department heads
- Serve as an exemplar in the use of technology in the classroom to engage learners and build positive relationships
- Coordinate curriculum, co-curricular activities and initiatives across multiple media disciplines and staff
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and people skills.
- Ability to apply computer skills for electronic communications, social media, and desktop publishing, digital presentations, and other marketing and communications processes.
- Contribute to other facets of school life beyond the classroom
- Work collaboratively with the other members of the department and the whole school not only regarding academics but furthering the mission of our school.
The Digital Media Educator will report directly to the Assistant Principal of Academics. This is a ten-month position.

Long-Term Substitute: Music/Percussion/Band Teacher (FALL 2023)
MUSIC/PERCUSSION/BAND TEACHER: Long-Term Substitute (FALL 2023)
Cardinal Gibbons High School is seeking applicants for a long-term substitute in our MUSIC department, specializing in Percussion and Band. This is a 12-week substitute position that starts in August 2023.
This individual:
- should have relevant background and experience teaching in a secondary school (High School).
- Experience teaching Percussion/Wind Ensemble/Band students.
- should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the relevant topic area.
- preferably would have a North Carolina teaching license but it is not mandatory.
- should be able to quickly learn technology used in the classroom setting.
- should demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with members of the Fine Arts department and other members of the school.
This position reports to the Fine Arts Department Head at Cardinal Gibbons High School.
