From Alex: "I wanted to depict what my mom does as a biologist in 4 steps. She helps teach children about endangered species while at the same time helping restore that species population. The steps depicted are first the fish species have started to die off and this is noticed by biologists including my mom. Then in classrooms, my mother leads students to care for and observe the species in a safe environment, while they are in the egg form. As the eggs begin to hatch the children release the fry into their original waters. Then, hopefully, the population will thrive. In the last step, the fish are seen looking towards the future, for both their population and the children in the hope that they continue to care for our planet."

From Lucy: "I wanted to represent the visible reactions that can come from internal thoughts or emotions. Emotion is represented in my piece through posture and lighting. The leading lines in the wrinkles of clothing and of her eyes lead to the focal point which is in the center of her face."
