Lunch, Learning, and Dignity: Christian Service Learning class visits A Place at the Table

This week, 20 seniors from our Christian Service Learning class visited A Place at the Table for a meaningful lunch and learn experience. Students heard the inspiring story of the restaurant's beginnings and discovered how the pay-what-you-can restaurant model affirms the dignity of every person who walks through its doors. Beyond enjoying a meal, students gained a deeper appreciation for how food and fellowship create true community.

The Christian Service Learning course is designed to go beyond the usual classroom experience by combining meaningful community service with academic study. Once a week, students dedicate class time to serving with local Raleigh organizations, gaining real-world insight while reflecting on Catholic social teaching.

These experiences challenge them to develop projects that address authentic community needs and deepen their understanding of faith in action.

With only one section offered each semester, the class remains a unique and impactful opportunity for our seniors.
