Five students make All-District Band

Five band students recently earned spots in the All-District Band. 

Meet the musicians

Kate Sullivan `23 
2nd Chair Flute in the 11/12 Wind Ensemble 

Accomplishments: Kate has made the All-District Band all four years of high school, an accomplishment not duplicated within the last decade at Gibbons. In 2021, Kate made the All-State Band, placing 9th Chair in the 9/10 Wind Ensemble. 

What’s next: She will audition for the All-State Band this year on Saturday, March 4, at Atkins High School in Winston-Salem, NC. 

Involvement: Kate has been the Drum Major of the Pep Band for the past two years and is a member of the Wind Ensemble.

Chapman Warren `24
2nd Chair Snare Drum in the 11/12 Wind Ensemble

Accomplishments: Chapman has made the All-District Band each of his three years of high school, placing as high as 11th in 2022, and made the All-District Band in 8th Grade as a member of St. Timothy’s School. 

What’s next: He will audition for the All-State Band this year on Saturday, March 4 at Atkins High School in Winston-Salem, NC. 

Involvement: Chapman is a member of the Advanced Percussion Ensemble.

 

John Jenkins ‘23 
3rd Chair Snare Drum in the 11/12 Wind Ensemble

Accomplishments: John has made All-District Band in his Sophomore, Junior, and Senior years, placing 4th Chair in the 9/10 All-State Band in 2021 in the 9/10 Band. John also placed 1st Chair in the Central Region Jazz “A Band.”

What’s next: He will audition for All-State Jazz Band in March. 

Involvement: John has been our Drum Line Captain for the past two years and is a member of the Advanced Percussion Ensemble.

Pierson Glielmi ‘26
1st Chair Snare Drum in the 9/10 Wind Ensemble

Accomplishments: In 2022, as a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Band, he placed 2nd Chair in the Middle School All-State Band. To our knowledge, he is the first, middle school All-State Band Member from a Raleigh-area Diocese School. 

What’s next: Pierson will audition for the All-State Band this year on Saturday, March 4, at Atkins High School in Winston-Salem. 

Involvement: Pierson is a member of the Wind Ensemble.

Stephanie Young ‘23
1st Chair Trumpet as a member of the 11/12 Symphonic Band

Accomplishments: Stephanie is our first trumpet player to make the All-District Band in over a decade. 

Involvement: Stephanie is the Trumpet Section Leader of the Pep Band and a member of the Wind Ensemble.
