Established by Mr. and Mrs. Daly, the annual Daly awards recognize educators for outstanding contributions to the Gibbons community that further the school's mission.

Recipients are selected by their peers, and the awards are presented during the Educator End of Year celebration.

Karestin Harrison,
Fine Arts Educator

Susan Scott Daly '76 Excellence in Teaching Award

Theatre educator Karestin Harrison received the Susan Scott Daly '76 Excellence in Teaching Award for her dedication to student learning, commitment to enriching our community, and innovative learning programs.

What her peers said

"Karestin goes above and beyond to ensure school events succeed. Whether in the theaters, gym or even off campus, she strives to insure professionalism both in the preparation and the execution of the event. Without her, we would not be able to put our best foot forward."

"Karestin goes above and beyond to do her job. Many times she is at Gibbons late into the night assisting with all the event occurring in the theater making sure the lighting is correct, the stage is set and being a contact for all questions."

"Karestin genuinely cares for each person whom she meets. She is always eager to lend a hand – most often before asked. She has a keen way of knowing what needs accomplished before the plans are on the table. She is bright and observant of every situation. She is a leader yet knows that often it is important to follow before you take lead."

Bob House, Maintenance Team

Mr. and Mrs. Daly Outstanding Office Educator Award

Bob House, a member of the maintenance team, received the Mr. and Mrs. Daly Outstanding Office Educator Award for his exceptional support and commitment to our school.

What his peers said

"Bob House lives the mission. He leads by example, serves the community tirelessly, and gives back to the school community he joined years ago. He and his family have been a part of Cardinal Gibbons for many years, and we are blessed by his friendly demeanor, accommodating assistance, and work ethic."

"Bob is constantly working on making our school better. Bob provides service to this school in so many ways, it would be hard to list them all. Keeping our grounds looking pristine, delivering the endless packages that come to school but most importantly he always greets everyone with a smile."

"Bob works relentlessly both keeping the lawns and fields mowed. Along with his grounds maintenance duties, he is always willing to do whatever is needed. He is often seen delivering packages, constructing furniture, setting up for events. This is in addition to spending many hours a week on the mowers outside. Bob is a tremendous asset to the maintenance department."

Jon Armfield & Paige Derouin received the Jason Curtis Award for Vision Driven Innovation and Leadership for going above and beyond to implement a vision of making Gibbons a great Catholic school while exemplifying innovative leadership.

What their peers said

"The addition of Paige and Jon to the admin team has made a huge difference this year. As a classroom educator I know that they are there to support me in any way they can. Their work this year to address everything from parking, dress code and academic integrity are laying the foundation to make Gibbons an even better school than it is. The students respect them and know that they can talk to them about any issues and they will be handled with care and concern. They have worked many tireless hours while also teaching classes to assure that students know the expectations and follow them. I can't imagine not having the two of them in the role of Dean of Students."

"Both have done a remarkable job in the inaugural (and arguably most challenging) year of having Deans of Students. They've done it with humor, grace, a sense of partnership despite what I am positive have been some enormously bleak and exhausting moments. Grateful to have Deans in general and especially grateful for these two specific people serving in these roles. Simply put, they've impacted both our jobs and culture for the better in a very short window."

"Paige and Jon are such an incredible team. I've witnessed multiple interactions they've had with students, and have been impressed with their approach. Most of the conversations they have with students and parents are tough but with more practice, they have both found a groove. I admire both of them for their grit and believe they are a true asset to this community."
