Robotics Team 2901 Purple Gears was on the winning alliance during a recent First Tech Challenge qualifying event. They will compete in the State Championship at Southern Guilford High School in Greensboro on Feb. 18.

The team took home the Think Award and earned second place in the Inspire Award.

The Think Award is given to the team that best reflects on their journey as they experienced the engineering design process during the build season. Teams must submit an engineering portfolio focusing on the build and design stages.

The Inspire Award is given to the team that best embodies the ‘challenge’ of the FIRST Tech Challenge program. The team that receives this award is a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and a role model team.
