Integrated Arts Design Honors

This course introduces students to integrated conceptual design via a focus on the process of Theatrical Design. By examining photography, architecture, literature, color, and music, among other elements, students can develop ideas, images, and concepts used in design. Execution of these designs will be used in areas of theater, such as costume design, poster and program graphic design, and set dressing. Students will learn how to ensure that the right visual style is reflected in each of these areas, creating unity and consistency in both onstage and offstage elements. Students will see their designs implemented in Gibbons Drama Productions throughout the year. Through the presentation of ideas and design concepts, students build strong communication skills while learning to be efficient creative collaborators.
