Introduction to Media

Introduction to Media is a survey course in the media disciplines designed for freshman and sophomore students. It exposes students to the basic application of the theories, skills, and techniques used in digital storytelling and interactive media. Through a series of hands-on projects, students explore creative applications of interactive media through the integration of text, photographs, graphics, audio, and video. Emphasized skill focus include: basic web publication; proper social media usage including platforms such as Twitter and Instagram; basic digital photography, basic desktop and online publishing; Adobe InDesign and the Gibbons website. This course serves as a gateway to other media courses and allows students to prepare for entry into these courses.
