Latin IV Honors

Latin IV Honors is a survey course in which students read, comprehend, and translate a variety of classical, medieval, and scriptural texts. Students will study the lives of saints, scholars, and classical authors in addition to classical and medieval culture and Church history as it relates to the texts that we are reading. Readings will not be divided into chronological units, rather thematic units such as “love,” “friendship,” “war,” “charity,” “faith,” or “scholarship.” Students will continue to learn about the grammar, syntax, and morphology of the Latin language as it relates to the authentic texts and novellas in front of them.  Thematic units will vary from year-to-year, but each year will start with a unit on “Faith” in which authentic and adapted texts are read.
