Bell Schedule: Remote Learning

Bell Schedule: Remote Learning

Our remote learning plan is designed to ensure continuity of education during inclement weather. Our goal is to maintain a balance between flexibility and effective learning, even when we are apart.

While we understand that a synchronous day may not always be feasible, we encourage teachers to utilize a variety of tools to engage students. This may include posting detailed assignments, sharing recorded lessons, or providing curated resources for independent study.

For students, our expectations for remote learning are as follows:

  • Dedicate time to engaging with learning materials provided by teachers, which may include video lessons or instructional content.
  • Complete assigned readings and activities designed to reinforce key concepts.
  • Demonstrate learning through practice, whether by solving problems, completing projects, or participating in online discussions as directed by your teachers.

The remote learning day will be designated as either synchronous or asynchronous.

Synchronous

Students are expected to log in via Zoom and access the remote class at the start of each period: cameras on, and ready to learn. The classroom educator will conduct the remote learning experience as needed.

If Cardinal Gibbons needs to close campus because of inclement weather, students and educators will follow the schedule below for remote learning.

8:30-9:15 a.m. | Period 1/5

9:25-10:10 a.m. | Period 2/6

10:20-11:05 a.m. | Period 3/7

11:15 a.m.-noon | Period 4/8

Asynchronous

There will not be live instruction via Zoom.  Students must complete the assignments posted on their Schoology page for the courses that meet on this day.

Attendance

If a student’s internet access is disrupted due to a weather event (e.g., a loss of power), the absence will be considered excused. The student will be allowed to complete any missed assignments later. Parents are requested to inform the school about the loss of power or internet connection through the SchoolPass app as soon as they are able.

On synchronous remote learning days, if a student is not present on the remote platform at the start of class, parents must use the SchoolPass app to provide a reason for the absence.
