ACT
ACT overview
Administered by The ACT organization.
- Schedule: Offered six times per school year
- Format: Four required sections—English, Math, Reading, and Science—with an optional Writing section (most colleges and universities do not require Writing)
- Scoring: Each section receives a subscore. These are averaged to create a single composite score.
- Score range: The highest possible score is 36 for each section and for the composite.
- Guessing: No penalty for guessing.
- Superscoring: Some schools consider the highest subscores from multiple test dates when reviewing applications.
- Digital pption: A pilot version of the digital ACT is available at select testing locations.
Important note: Cardinal Gibbons is not an ACT center.
