Clubs

At Cardinal Gibbons, our Music Department offers a variety of clubs that inspire and enrich the music education offered in our department curriculum. Clubs are open to all Cardinal Gibbons students who possess talents, with parameters set forward by their individual instructors.

Composition Club

Composition Club
Organizer: Mr. Cashin
Meetings: One Wednesday Each Month 3:15 - 4:15PM

Composition Club is an opportunity for individual students to channel their composition talents to create unique, authentic works. Literature can range from classical to popular, and is driven by the creative spirits of its members. Compositions that are written for the instrumentation of CGHS ensembles may be performed on future concerts. Opportunities for individuals to also enter competitions for composition are available.

Drum Line Club

Drum Line

Meetings: Mondays 3:00-4:00PM

The Cardinal Gibbons Drum Line is a club for percussion students and others who like to play percussion, that performs at football games, parades and festivals. In 2015 we are marching a 26 piece line. This year the group will perform at football games, The Raleigh Christmas Parade, Cardinal Gibbons Pep Rallies and the Raleigh St. Patrick's Day Parade.

Guitar Club

Guitar Club is for guitar students and others who like to play guitar and jam in a less formal setting. Guitarists will meet in Room 134, and please contact Mr. Spencer for meeting times!

Jazz Ensemble Club

Jazz Ensemble Club

Meetings: 2-3 Wednesdays  a month from 3:15 - 4:15PM

Jazz Club is an opportunity to present students with a musical outlet for their creative talents, primarily focused in the area of Jazz. The club features both instrumentalists and rhythm section players, and meets a few times each month. The performing club looks to offer opportunities for their musicians to play throughout the Raleigh area and for Formal Concerts at Cardinal Gibbons.

Combo Club

Combo Club

Meetings: One Wednesday a Month 3:15 - 4:15PM

Combo Club is where members of similar ability levels collaborate in small groups to learn and apply improvisation across a variety of instrumental musical genres. The club may features both instrumentalists and rhythm section players, and meets once a month. The performing club looks to offer opportunities for their musicians to play both recreationally and for Formal Concerts at Cardinal Gibbons.

 

 

 

Tri-M Music Honor Society Club

Tri-M Music Honors Society

Meetings: Meetings Once a Month, Dates and Times TDB 

Tri-M Music Honor Society is the international music honor society for high school students, designed to recognize students for their academic and musical achievements, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and to inspire other students to excel at music and leadership. Students who participate in any of the Music Department disciplines are able to be members of Tri-M.

Small Ensemble Club

Small Ensemble Club

Meetings: Tuesdays 3:15 - 4:45PM

Small Ensemble Club is an opportunity for students with music experience to be exposed to the genre of Small Ensemble music, which helps students prepare for the Spring Musicals that are performed in collaboration with the Drama and Dance departments. Individuals and Ensemble musicianship will be enhanced, and the group is open to band members, percussionists, guitar/ bass/ keyboard musicians.
