Coach Wright grew up in Maitland, FL. where he attended Winter Park High School (Winter Park, FL). While at Winter Park he lettered in 4 varsity sports (Football, Baseball, Track & Field, Weightlifting) and served as a captain his senior season, earning All-Conference, All-County and All-Area honors in both Football and Weightlifting. After graduation, Coach Wright attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) where he earned an athletic scholarship, started for four years as a defensive back, served as a team captain and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Since then, he has gone on to earn a doctoral degree, while professionally he has worked as a teacher and coach focusing in the areas of Leadership, Football and Strength & Conditioning.
Coach Wright is in his 15th year as a high school head coach, having spent the last 9 at Cardinal Gibbons where his varsity teams have compiled 86 wins and his program 191 total wins over that same period. He and his staff have won 4 Varsity conference titles, 7 Junior Varsity conference titles, gone undefeated twice with the Freshman football team and four times been honored with the conference coach of the year award.
Coach Wright's mission at CGHS is to "develop godly young men" who demonstrate the biblical values of love, sacrifice, service, accountability, community and joy. He is married to Rachel-Ruth Wright, they have three daughters and reside in Raleigh, NC.
