Head of Program
Coach Wright grew up in Maitland, FL. where he attended Winter Park High School (Winter Park, FL). While at Winter Park he lettered in 4 varsity sports (Football, Baseball, Track & Field, Weightlifting) and served as a captain his senior season, earning All-Conference, All-County and All-Area honors in both Football and Weightlifting. After graduation, Coach Wright attended the University of Central Florida (UCF) where he earned an athletic scholarship, started for four years as a defensive back, served as a team captain and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Since then, he has gone on to earn a doctoral degree and professionally, worked as a teacher and coach focusing in the areas of Football and Strength & Conditioning.
Coach Wright is in his 11th year as a high school head coach, having spent the last five at Cardinal Gibbons where his varsity teams have compiled 45 wins and his program 100 total wins over that same period. He and his staff have won 2 conference titles, 4 junior varsity conference titles and have twice been honored with conference coach of the year awards.
Coach Wright's mission at CGHS is to "develop godly men" who demonstrate the biblical values of love, sacrifice, service, accountability, community and joy. He is married to Rachel-Ruth Wright, they have three daughters and reside in Raleigh, NC
Head Coach / DC
Coach Healy is from Corpus Christi, Texas, where he played his high school football. He hails most recently from Florida, he coached as the defensive coordinator for middle school football with two one-loss seasons in three years.
This is his first year with the Cardinal Gibbons program as the Freshman Defensive Line coach. He also tries to lend a hand where needed on the JV and Varsity teams. Coach Healy attended the University of North Florida, graduating in 2009 with dual BA's in English and History and an MA in History. With a career that spans restaurant management and teaching as an adjunct professor at his alma mater, he is happy to be settled in North Carolina, shaping future citizens of character and faith.
Currently a language arts teacher and baseball coach at Immaculata Catholic School, Coach Healy resides in Durham with his wife Wendy, currently teaching 9th grade science at Cardinal Gibbons, and his son Ryan, a 5th grader at Immaculata.
