Outreach
Faith in Action
Outreach is a vital part of the faith experience at Gibbons. Each class has the opportunity to experience a grade-level outreach project in solidarity with those who are often underserved in the local community.
Student Outreach Programs
Freshman: Equity and Education
Our freshmen spend the morning serving at a child development center that serves under-resourced families. They end their day with residents of the Method Road community experiencing the history of where they live and went to school.
Juniors: Capstone Service Project
Our juniors select, plan, and create their own Outreach projects to address a social justice issue of their choosing. This experience allows them to practice finding ways they can help the communities around them.
Sophomore: Hunger and Food Insecurity
Our sophomores volunteer with the Catholic Parish Outreach, the North Carolina Food Bank, or the Salvation Army. They conclude their day of service with lunch at A Place at the Table, a local pay-what-you-can cafe.
Grade 12: Affordable Housing
Our seniors serve at Habitat for Humanity to learn how organizations in our community address affordable housing on local and global levels. We are proud to be the No. 1 source of volunteer labor for Habitat of Wake.
My service experiences at Gibbons have been inspired through the relationships I have with my classmates and teachers. When I can make a positive impact on another person it in turn affects my life more positively. Being of service to others makes me feel more whole and at peace.Maurelle moowad '23
