What is Lent?

• Lent is one of the five seasons of the Catholic liturgical calendar, along with Advent, Christmas, Easter, and Ordinary Time.
• Lent is a season of preparation that centers on the three pillars of the Lenten season: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.
• In contrast to Advent, Lent is a more solemn journey toward Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection.
