Laptop graduation is when the laptop issued to each student upon their matriculation at Gibbons completes its transformation from joint stewardship to sole responsibility of the Gibbons graduate. This process resets the laptop to a recent version of Windows 10 pro and removes all Gibbons specific licensed software and monitoring tools.

Student responsibility:

1. Download & save all files from the laptop hard drive, OneDrive, Google Drive and Adobe.
2. Decide if you will keep or donate the laptop and let us know.
3. Submit a STARs ticket for any outstanding repairs. Warranties expire in June!
4. Login to your laptop and connect it to the internet on May 18, 2022 to receive a laptop reset.

*Students with make-up AP Exams will have an alternate date.

My family would like to keep the Gibbons laptop. We understand that the laptop will be restored to factory settings following senior exams. At that time, the laptop will be considered graduated and care for the laptop will transfer to our family.

My family would like to donate the Gibbons laptop to the Gibbons Gives program. We understand that the laptop will be cleaned and restored to factory settings. The laptop will then be refurbished for a new journey in a developing country, enhance the Gibbons student laptop loaner program or expand the Gibbons laptop onsite repair center program.

Microsoft OneDrive

1. Log in to your Gibbons OneDrive Account (www.office.com)
2. On your OneDrive Online website, select the files or folders you want to download.
3. Select Download.
4. Save your files to an external hard drive.

Google Takeout

1. Log in to Google Takeout with your Gibbons account. https://takeout.google.com/
2. Choose the Google data you want to take with you.
3. Request your data via email.
4. Choose the size of your data downloads.

Adobe Files

Visit the Student Asset Migration portal, and sign in with the credentials of your school account.
Click Get Started to begin.
Provide consent to migrate your assets, and then click Continue.
Sign up for a new personal Adobe account. You must be at least 13 years old to be able to create your account.

Local Files

1. Copy any remaining files to an external hard drive or non-Gibbons cloud storage account.

Operating System Reset

Laptop Graduates Remotely

Date: May 15, 2024
Time: Beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Student Actions:

1. Connect your laptop to power.
2. Login to your laptop and connect to the Internet.
3. Watch us remotely erase all things Gibbons.
4. If your computer does not start to reset, please restart the laptop.

What happens in the remote graduation process?

All software will also be removed from the laptops.
Students will retain online access to the Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and Adobe using their Gibbons logins through May 2024.

Repairs and Resets

Gibbons Gives

Any student wishing to donate their Gibbons laptop to Gibbons Gives should place their laptop in the bin located near the main office on their last day of classes.

Through our 1:1 device program, it is our vision that all students will graduate with the ability to troubleshoot devices as well as develop the skills needed to seek tech support and articulate the challenges they are experiencing. We believe that these problem-solving and communication skills are important transferable life skills that all graduates need.
