An overview of the World Language Department courses, placement, recommendations, course pathways and options for students for 2022-2023.
World Languages
The mission of the World Languages Department at Cardinal Gibbons is to instill in students a love for language, and to empower them with the mastery of a second language as an instrument of empathy, communication and learning for life. This will be accomplished by reading, writing, speaking and listening in the target language.
Currently, courses in French, Latin and Spanish are offered as part of the curriculum. In each language, courses range from the introductory level to Advanced Placement which allows students to take the same language every year throughout their high school career.
In each of the three languages, the courses are sequential in nature with seamless transitions from one level to the next due to the curriculum, which follows the National Standards, and the collaborative spirit of the teacher.
