Yearbook II Honors is a production class focusing on developing students’ leadership abilities, which will be necessary for the publication of The Landmark yearbook. Yearbook students collaborate with each other and other media students to cover all the memorable Gibbons events throughout the year. Students in Yearbook II Honors will be assigned leadership roles, such as Editor-in-Chief, Managing Editor, Layout Editor and Section Editor, and together will provide editorial control and direction for The Landmark. All students in Yearbook II Honors will be expected to model leadership and appropriate behavior to younger media staff members. Students will also further develop skills learned in Yearbook I, including: practicing advanced interviewing skills; providing leadership in yearbook planning, especially theme and ladder (page content) planning; planning and executing advanced, original yearbook designs; practicing advanced photojournalism techniques to ensure great photos for the yearbook. Students will practice these skills by covering school events such as athletic games, arts performances, all-school Masses, etc. This course is designed for the most serious and dedicated media students and will require significant non-class time for maximum success.
