Endowments

Cardinal Gibbons High School is grateful to the farsighted benefactors who have contributed to endowments benefiting our students. Gifts to the endowment provide a permanent source of income to the school while allowing the principal to grow. The funds are invested in perpetuity with a designated percentage of the earned income available for use on an annual basis. A strong endowment allows Cardinal Gibbons High School to meet the needs of ever increasing costs and keep tuition affordable for all families seeking an exceptional Catholic education rooted in faith, service, and leadership.

Cardinal Gibbons High School Unrestricted Endowment Fund

All gifts to the Cardinal Gibbons High School Endowment Fund will be unrestricted, allowing the Board of Trustees, with recommendations from an endowment subcommittee of the Board, to target dollars toward the school's most pressing needs as those needs change over time.

The Paul McEnroe Memorial Award

The Paul V. McEnroe Memorial Award was formed by his family and friends when Paul, as a fourteen-year-old freshman at Cardinal Gibbons, was involved in a fatal accident. Members of the Class of 1986, led by Chris Solari '86, have continued this award in memory of their friend and classmate. This one-year, $1,000 financial aid award is provided to a student each year.

The Amanda J. Rothschild Byer '82 Memorial Award

Members of the Class of 1982 founded this endowed award in memory of their classmate, Amanda J. Rothschild Byer '82. Amanda's classmates, family and friends gathered together to keep her spirit alive at Cardinal Gibbons High School.  This one-year, $500 financial aid award is provided to a student each year.

The Franciscan Brothers Endowment

The Franciscan Brothers Endowment was established upon Br. Michel Bettigole's retirement from Cardinal Gibbons High School in 2006 as a way to honor his work and that of the Franciscan Brothers of Brooklyn who served our school from 1994 through 2006. All donations to the Franciscan Brothers Endowment are intended for tuition assistance to serve students and families most in need.

The Sister Teresita and Sisters of Notre Dame Award

Mike Kilmartin, Class of 1974, founded this award to express his appreciation for the positive influence that Sister Mary Teresita, SND, had on his life. The Sisters of Notre Dame have served Cardinal Gibbons since 1972 as administrators, faculty, and staff. This one-year, $1,000 financial aid award is provided to a student each year.

The Jack Ratz, Jr. Memorial Award

The Jack Ratz, Jr. Memorial Award is in memory of Jack Ratz, Jr. Jack was an avid golfer and student at Cardinal Gibbons when he lost his life in a tragic accident in 1988. His parents, Jack, Sr. and Barbara, along with his sisters Tracey Ratz Anthony '88 and Cortney Ratz Cowen '95 created this endowment. This one-year, $1,000 financial aid award is provided to a student each year.

The Audree and Margaret Hedrick Long Memorial Award

The Audree and Margaret Hedrick Long Memorial Award, established in 2001, honors Audree's and Margaret's devotion to learning, education and children. Mr. and Mrs. Long were grandparents of four Gibbons Alumni. The Audree and Margaret Hedrick Long Memorial Award provides a full one-year's tuition as a financial award to a student for his/her senior year.
