Editor's Note – Though Cardinal Gibbons has moved its celebration of Catholic Schools Week to March; the national commemoration began on January 31 and continues through February 6. We will recognize the national effort with a special series that spotlights the amazing educators at Gibbons and why they chose to work here. The answers they share underscore the theme of this year’s national celebration: “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” Each day this week we will share an educator’s answers with you.

We start the series, The Gibbons Connection, with Retreat Coordinator Crista Anders who has worked at Gibbons for 12 years. She is pictured above at a Kairos retreat.

Q: Why did you choose to work at a Catholic school in general and Gibbons in particular?

A:  I choose to work in a Catholic school because it gives me the opportunity to minister to our community. Sharing our unique faith journeys with each other is such a blessing. I choose Gibbons because of my incredible colleagues and students. It is such a blessing to witness people grow closer to the Lord while on retreat.

Q: What do you LOVE most about working at Gibbons?

A: What I love most about working at Gibbons is the sense of care and genuine desire to get to know one another. What exists here is a sense of family and being there through joys and difficulties.

Be sure to check back with us in March!
