Three Gibbons students have been selected as National Merit Scholarship winners based on their exemplary academic performance.

Liam Roldan and Tori Sears will each receive a $2,500 scholarship underwritten by National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Michael Austin won the $2,500 National Merit Hill-Rom Scholarship sponsored by Hill-Rom Holdings, Inc.

The competition is very rigorous; scholarship winners are chosen based on their abilities, skills, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in college and beyond.

Among all students who entered the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program, only about 16,000 were named semifinalists. In order to advance in the competition and be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, a semifinalist had to become a finalist by fulfilling several requirements that included submitting a detailed scholarship application and presenting a record of very high academic performance.

Winners of about 7,500 National Merit Scholarships were chosen from the group of approximately 15,000 distinguished Finalists.
