Dear Gibbons Family,
What a great joy it was to welcome students back to Gibbons last week. The welcoming continues on Monday as sophomores return to campus.
Tuesday is our official first day of in-person and distance learning classes. The school year ahead will be different than those of the past. But we are committed to providing an educational experience that prioritizes the health and safety and engages the mind, heart, and spirit of our community.
In communicating with our students, parents, and educators, our top priority is to ensure that our messages to you are clear, concise, consistent, and transparent. With that in mind, we are launching a new communications initiative that will achieve that as well as provide both a centralized news source and a mobile one.
We are encouraging the entire Gibbons community to use our school website, www.cghsnc.org, as the primary source of information for all things Gibbons, rather than Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. To that end, we will work with our educators, who will receive a separate email, to include their school-wide news on the website.
In utilizing our website, we also are centralizing the news on a dedicated School Updates page at www.cghsnc.org/schoolupdates, and event specific information on the school calendar. For your convenience, both School Updates and school calendar can be found on the top navigation bar on the homepage.
In addition to receiving Head of School Jeff Bell’s weekly message, twice a month you will receive a School Updates e-newsletter featuring the latest news. If you miss the email, don’t worry, the information in that newsletter will appear on the School Updates page!
For your added convenience, you will be able to access all the Gibbons information on the first-ever Gibbons mobile app, recently released in partnership with the Gibbons Tech Team. Along with reading all the news about Gibbons on your desktop, you will be able to read it on the go on your phone. Click here for details and instructions on how to download the app
We also are planning class-specific pages on our website for each grade level. There will be separate pages for parents of each class.
And to help you navigate the opening of school we have created a special page, Return to Campus. The page will feature the school’s reopening plan, its health and safety protocols, plus much more.
Want to know which group is on campus each day and which classes take place that day? Just visit the online school calendar or click the calendar icon at the top of the homepage of the school website.
We can’t wait to share all the great Gibbons news with you!
