Impact in Action: Athletics
For 22 years, Cardinal Gibbons swim and dive teams have been led by Jonah Turner. During his tenure the program has tripled in size from 30 to 90 swimmers competing at the highest levels of the sport. A pivotal moment in his collegiate career shaped the coach he is today.
“Setting a goal and being a part of their journey is meaningful to me as a coach. I always want kids to feel something," Turner said. "Whether it’s the excitement of accomplishing something great as a team or individual or handling adversity when something does not go our way, I always tell the kids that it is good to show emotion because that means you care.
"What we do with those emotions and how we funnel them to move forward is the fun part of coaching."
